Swiss death rate
In 2006, 59,600 people died in Switzerland. 800 less than expected, according to government authorities.
But, as George Bernard Shaw put it:
“The statistics on death are quite impressive. One out of one people die.”
So, my friends, live well today. I know you will.

How disappointed are the Swiss authorities that 800 people let them down?

It’s probably a bigger issue in Switzerland because of the premium on living space.
Is there some kind of plan in place to make up the numbers for this year?

Good one, Randy!

I think they were rather happy about the whole thing, really. If we get a really hot summer, we will lose most of those 800. France lost some 30,000 a couple of years ago because of the heat.
And if the flu is really bad…

Sounds like the start to a new T.V. series:
“The Swiss 800.”

I am disappointed in the Swiss that they did not meet their death quota. It’s time for them to come out of their neutral closet.
