I just want to be a Christian
We just left the city of Searcy, a small town with churches (nearly) on every corner. Aunt and Uncle welcomed us into their home with great love and we had a blast hooking up with relatives, some I hadn’t seen in over 20 years.
Nana is in a home now. Aunt and Uncles visit her every day, but she is feeling droopy and worries about life. She’ll still talk seriously to you, most of the time making sense, though not always.
I know life is hard for her, but she keeps on, never forgetting what is most important. "I’ve just wanted to be a Christian," she says. "I’m so proud of my children. They all love the Lord. They want to be fine Christian men and women."
When I’m 90, I hope I’m clear-headed enough to discern as well as she does what’s really important: Loving the Lord; Being a Christian; Desiring to grow.
Thanks for stopping by.

Amen to that. Last night at the wedding, the daughter of friends of ours from Florida told me she wanted me to do her wedding. Then she added, “if you’re still alive.” To live to that age AND have memory … I forgot what I was going to say.

Sweet…what a blessing for her and you to be able to visit.

What a wonderful place to be……………….where you want nothing more than to be a Christian. This ought to be the primary focus of all of us, and I think it is, for most who love the Lord. But the longings and cares of this life often overshadow what is most important in this life and the next. At least they do in mine. I am in the throes of trying to throw off those cares and longings and re-focus only on what is truly important.

May we all grow to the wisdom that “Nana” has. Enjoy your midwest swing.

We’ve just celebrated Jim Biggers’ 98th here. Lisa’s great-grandmother is 96 and, though she’s slipping, she still devotes time to the Word every day. What an inspiration these people are for us. What a great cloud of witnesses.
